Unsu: The filthy
13/08/12 || BamaHammer
Unsu loves Nasum. They actually pull off the super-heavy groovy death-grind thing pretty well, even if you know for a fact that you’ve heard it done better. They do a good job of shifting gears between relentless blasting and slower, plodding grooves just like Nasum used to do before fucken fate had to go and run its course. With only a couple of exceptions, the tracks all clock in under the two-minute mark, and for good reason. This is some extremely aggressive, intense shit, and it’s tough to digest in a single sitting anyway. The first five tracks on “The filthy” are all studio tracks and sound great, but tracks 6 through 9,321 are from some live show somewhere that I could give a fuck about, and the shoddy mix pretty much kills whatever redeeming quality this had in the first place. If you dig grindcore, and I know there are those of you who do, this album (the first five tracks anyway) is worth checking out. If grind ain’t your thing, pass.
6/10: Respectable if unoriginal grind.
After going thru that crap, you most likely wanna read something way more interesting. You do, admit it.
